Light seeping from the sides of the probe during a scan

Common in-fieldEstimated time: ~1 minUpdated: 2026-06-03

Visible light around the probe edges during a scan means ambient light is leaking in.

  1. Press the leaf completely flat against the scanning surface (Part D). Any gap lets ambient light in.
  2. Hand-tighten the fiber optic cable (Part C). Turn the 45° connector clockwise until snug.
  3. Shield from direct sunlight. In very bright conditions, move into shade or use your body to shield the probe.
